I recall the story of a young man and his attempts at finding a job during the lean years of the great depression. Jobs were very scarce in those days, so he would have to respond promptly, to any employment opportunities that became available.

One day he saw an ad from a local company in need of a Morse code operator. He immediately contacted the company to receive, and fill out the required job application. Soon after, the man was notified of the date in which the interviews were to be conducted.

As was expected, the day of the interview attracted a crowded room full of potential candidates, patiently awaiting their opportunity to be called in for a personal interview. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the young man was delayed in his arrival to the site where the interviews were taking place.

As a result of the crowd in the room, and his late arrival, the young man was unable to find a place to sit down. So, he stood there for a couple of minutes, and then proceeded to enter the private room where the interviews were being conducted.

A short time later, the gentleman who was performing the job interviews came out, and informed all of the applicants that the company would be hiring the man who arrived late, and had then walked into the private room for his interview.

Of course, the folks who had waited for a long time began to murmur and express their disapproval, decrying the action as unfair. After all, they were the ones who had been waiting for a great length of time, and this guy had just walked in.

The lesson of the story is as follows. The entire time that the interviews were occurring, a quiet Morse code was being sounded throughout the waiting room that declared, “If you understand this, come in for your interview.” The young man in our story was the only one who understood Morse code language.

This is very similar to how many believers relate to God today. Because they do not understand the code of the new covenant, and the acceptance they have in Christ, they do not enter into intimate fellowship with the Lord. (See Ephesians 1:6) They fail to comprehend that through the Blood of Jesus and His redemptive work; one can draw near, and obtain mercy and find grace to help in our times of need. (See Hebrews 4:16)

Many Christians are like the room full of crowed applicants, waiting for entrance into a relationship with God that has been freely given and made available to them through what Jesus has accomplished on the cross.

Far too many are on the wrong frequency of sin consciousness, and performance mentality and continue to wait on the outside of the relationship they have been called into. “THEREFORE, WHILE the promise of entering His rest still holds and is offered [today], let us be afraid [to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late and has come short of [reaching] it.” (Hebrews 4:1 AMP.)

The code of the New Covenant is, “come, draw near, and enter His rest today.” Consider the following verses that verify the above statement. “The [Holy] Spirit and the bride (the church, the true Christians) say, Come! And let him who is listening say, Come! And let everyone come who is thirsty [who is painfully conscious of the need of those things by which the soul is refreshed, supported, and strengthened]; and whoever [earnestly] desires to do it, let him come, take, appropriate, and drink the water of Life without cost.” ( Revelation 22:17 AMP.) “And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in FULL assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil (or guilty) conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10: 21, 22 KJV emphasis mine)

“There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” (Hebrews 4:9-11)

It is time that believers begin to hear the acceptance code of the new covenant, and stop waiting on the outside of an intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ?
